New to FitRight Exercise Classes...?

Here's everything you need to know to get started

Whether you're pregnant, rebuilding after birth, navigating perimenopause, or simply wanting to exercise in a way that's right for your body - you're in the right place. FitRight exercise classes are led by women's health physiotherapists and designed specifically for women at every life stage. Every class is pelvic floor friendly, individually modified, and claimable on private health insurance. Getting started takes two steps. Here's how it works:

Getting started is simple

Step 1 - Book an Initial Exercise Assessment

Your first step is a one-on-one assessment with a physiotherapist. They’ll find out what’s going on, what your goals are, and recommend the right class format for you.

Step 2 - Join your class

Once your assessment is complete, you’ll be set up in individual or small group classes. Your physio helps you book the right class.

Already had your initial assessment? Book classes below.

Which assessment is right for you?

Screening Assessment

50 min

Best for women who don't have any bladder, bowel, or pain concerns and are ready to get moving.

If you're feeling well and exercise is your main goal, this is your starting point. Your physio will take a thorough health history, talk through your goals, and work out which class is the right fit for you.

Fee: $199. Claimable on private health insurance

Full Assessment

60 min

Best for women experiencing bladder or bowel symptoms, pelvic or abdominal pain, or recovering from injury or surgery.

If you're dealing with leaking, urgency, prolapse, pelvic pain, or any musculoskeletal concern, this longer appointment gives your physio the time to assess you properly. It includes everything in the Screening Assessment, plus the option of an internal pelvic floor examination if this is appropriate for you.

The internal examination is always optional - your physio will explain what's involved and you decide what you're comfortable with.

Fee: $239. Claimable on private health insurance

Not sure which to book? If you have any bladder, bowel, pain, or pelvic floor concerns book the Full Assessment. Your physio can always do less than planned, but having the time means nothing gets missed. Still unsure? Call us on (08) 6444 7994 and we'll help you work it out.

Which life stage describes you?

Your physio will recommend the right class at your assessment - but here's a quick overview of what's available for each life stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring my baby or toddler to the assessment?

Yes, you're welcome to bring your baby or toddler. We have a bouncer and toys available.

How soon can I start classes after my assessment?

In most cases, you can join the next available class straight after your assessment. Your physio will help you find a suitable time at your appointment.

I've already had a women's health physio assessment elsewhere. Do I still need one?

If you have had an initial assessment or an appointment with a women's health physio elsewhere and they are able to provide a summary to us, this will suffice as your initial assessment. Please ask your physiotherapist to complete this form.

Do I need to be fit or have previous exercise experience?

Not at all. Our exercise classes are designed for women across a range of fitness levels and exercise experience. Whether you're new to exercise, returning after a break, or already regularly active, we'll help you find a class that's appropriate for you.

You don't need to be fit or strong before you start. Your physiotherapist will guide you through the exercises and can modify the weight, resistance, repetitions or difficulty to suit your current ability. As you become stronger and more confident, your exercises can be progressed to continue challenging you.

Your initial assessment allows us to understand your exercise history, goals and any health concerns and recommend the class that's right for you.

What if I have pelvic floor problems or an injury? Can I still join a group class?

Yes. Having pelvic floor symptoms, an injury or another physical concern doesn't necessarily mean you need to avoid exercise or group classes.

Our classes are led by physiotherapists who understand women's health and can modify exercises to suit your individual needs. Your physiotherapist can adjust the exercise, resistance, range of movement or intensity to help you exercise safely and confidently while working towards your goals.

During your initial assessment, we'll discuss your symptoms, injury or health concerns and determine whether a group class is appropriate for you. We may recommend specific modifications or exercises for you to use during the class.

For some women, particularly those with more complex or significant symptoms, an acute injury or who require closer individual supervision, Clinical Exercise may be a better starting point. This provides a more personalised exercise program in a smaller setting, with exercises specifically tailored to your needs.

The goal isn't to stop you exercising - it's to find the right type and level of exercise for you and help you progress from there.

What do I need to bring or wear to classes?

Please bring a water bottle to classes – keeping hydrated is important!

Wearing comfortable clothing such as leggings/shorts and a t-shirt are ideal to wear. You can wear bare feet, socks or exercise shoes.

Studio Classes

  • Your own exercise mat (if you have one) or a towel to put down over a supplied mat
  • For Baby&Me and Toddler&Me classes please  bring your baby them in a pram so that the volunteers can easily assist in caring for your child. Please also bring toys for your toddler to play with

Circuit Classes

  • A small towel to place on exercise equipment
  • Socks to wear on equipment - grip socks are preferred and are available for purchase
Why do I need to have an initial assessment?

Your initial assessment helps us make sure you’re starting with the right type and level of exercise for your body, goals and current stage of life. It gives your physiotherapist the opportunity to understand your health and exercise history, discuss any concerns or symptoms you may have, and identify anything that may need to be considered when exercising.

Your physiotherapist will then recommend the most appropriate class for you and provide guidance on how exercises can be modified to suit your individual needs. This is particularly important if you are pregnant, recently had a baby, are returning to exercise after a break, have pelvic floor concerns, pain or an injury, or are experiencing changes through perimenopause or menopause.

It also means you can start your classes feeling confident that the exercises are appropriate for you and that you know how to get the most out of them.

Your assessment is about getting to know you and making sure your exercise program is right for you.

Are classes covered by private health insurance?

Most private health funds cover physiotherapist led exercise classes if you have Physiotherapy extras cover. The rebate amount and annual limit depend on your individual policy.

Find out more information including which health fund codes are used here.

Please note that health fund receipts will be sent to class participants at the end of the 8 week course. Classes that have not been attended cannot be claimed.

Do I need a referral to claim private health insurance?

No referral is required - you can book directly into our classes. You will receive your private health fund receipt at the end of each course.

Can I join part-way through an 8-week course?

Yes, where places are available. We also offer casual classes, so you don't necessarily have to wait for the next course to begin.

What happens if I miss a class?

We expect that most women miss at least one class in the 8 week course - sickness, holidays, and life in general get in the way!

We offer participants the option to reschedule 1 class per course to another day/time if there are spaces available. You can use your make up class for any class type - Studio, Circuit, Restore, however this must be completed within the 8 week course.

We will try our best to accommodate all requests, depending on availability.

Can I try a class before committing to an 8-week course?

Yes, casual classes are available where places allow. Your initial assessment is still required before attending.
