Frequently Asked Questions
If you have private health insurance, it is highly likely that you will receive a rebate for FitRight HQ consultations as they are both delivered by qualified physiotherapists. The amount that you get back will depend on your level of cover, and how much you have already used, so you should check your individual circumstances with your health insurance provider.
Please find the health fund codes that are routinely used below so you can check with your fund how much will be covered:
- Initial appointment at FitRight HQ (including initial FitRight class assessments) – 500
- Follow up appointment at FitRight HQ – 505
We have a hicaps machine so please bring your private health fund card (physical or digital on apple wallet) so that you will only pay the gap. If you forget your health fund card you will be required to pay the full appointment cost and we will email your receipt once payment has been received so that you can claim online or in person through your fund.
Telehealth consultations can be paid for over the phone at the time of your appointment or you will be emailed an invoice. Once payment is received you will be emailed your receipt so that you can claim online or in person through your fund.
Yes, we do accept patients with EPC referrals. We do charge the gap between what Medicare covers and our usual consultation fees.
Please bring your EPC referral and medicare card with you to your appointment.
Please read here for more information.
Booking your first appointment can feel like a big step. Whether you're dealing with pelvic girdle pain, wanting to stay active and pain-free, or just want to feel empowered and ready for birth - here's exactly what happens when you walk through our door.
Before Your Appointment
You will be sent initial intake forms on booking, please complete these as soon as possible. This information allows us to ensure that the correct appointment type has been booked and gives your physiotherapist important information prior to your appointment.
Please come to your appointment in comfortable clothing you can move in.
Please bring your Medicare card, along with any referral letters, scans, or reports that are relevant to your history (e.g. ultrasound, MRI, X-rays).
If you have a GP Care Plan (EPC) referral, please send this to hello@fitright.au prior to your appointment.
During Your Consultation
You'll see a Women's Health Physiotherapist with extra postgraduate training in this specialty area. We offer longer consult times than the norm, because we believe you deserve to be properly listened to.
Here's how your session will unfold:
- A thorough conversation first. Your physiotherapist will ask about your symptoms, your health history, and what's brought you in - whether that's pelvic girdle pain, back or groin pain, incontinence, or wanting guidance on staying safely active throughout your pregnancy. This is your time to be heard, in as much detail as you need.
- An assessment tailored to you. With your consent, this may include an internal pelvic floor assessment, which helps your physiotherapist understand exactly what's happening and why. Nothing happens without your say-so, and your comfort always comes first.
- A plan that connects the dots. From there, your physiotherapist will put together a comprehensive, holistic plan to support you through pregnancy, birth, and your postnatal recovery. If it's useful, you'll also have the option to be referred on to other FitRight practitioners or pregnancy-friendly exercise classes, so all the pieces of your care fit together.
After Your Consultation
You'll leave with a clear plan and a clear next step. Follow-up appointments help you build on the progress you've made as your pregnancy progresses, at a pace that works for you.
Cost and Rebates
Initial Pregnancy Physiotherapy consultations range from $199–$249, with follow-ups from $119–$139, depending on your physiotherapist, see our fees here. If you have private health insurance, you're likely eligible for a rebate - bring your health fund card (physical or digital) so we can process this on the spot with HICAPS. We also accept GP Care Plan (EPC) referrals.
We recommend booking your TENS hire appointment around 38 weeks gestation.
Read more about our TENS Hire for birth service here.
Payment for consultations at FitRight HQ will be taken at the end of your appointment. We have a hicaps machine so please bring your private health fund card (physical card or digital version in your apple wallet) so you will only pay the gap.
If you forget your private health card we will require the full payment and we will send you a receipt so that you can claim yourself.
Please just bring yourself! Wear comfortable clothing, and bring along with any referral letters or scans that may be relevant.
If you are bringing your baby to your appointment (we are very happy for you to do so!) please consider bringing them in a pram or capsule, or bring a mat, so they have somewhere to stay when we assess you. We have a bouncer and children’s toys to help entertain your baby/child if you wish to use them.
