Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve compiled a handy list of frequently asked questions about FitRight group fitness classes below:
You can commence FitRight’s Bump&Me Studio, Bump&Me Aqua Classes and Pregnancy Online classes at any stage of pregnancy, as long as you have the all clear from the health professional (GP, obstetrician, midwife) looking after you. We recommend you attend these classes during your second and third trimesters and you are welcome to attend right up until your due date!
You can commence FitRight’s Baby&Me Studio classes and New Mum's Online after your baby has had his or her 6-week immunisations, as long as you have been given the all clear from the health professional (GP, obstetrician, midwife) looking after you. Please note you will also be required to attend a FitRight Initial Assessment before commencing classes.
If your youngest child is over 6-8 months old, you might prefer FitRight’s more advanced Studio Fitness Classes – Empower and Toddler&Me. If you would like to attend these more challenging classes when you are earlier postnatal, please note that we will need specific clearance from your specialist physiotherapist that did your FitRight assessment.
For information about FitRight’s initial assessments please visit our FitRight Initial Assessments page.
FitRight Baby&Me classes aren’t just about exercise for Mums - many of them offer the option of attending a weekly ‘Baby Massage and Developmental Play’ routine with the physio instructor.
Mums sit in a circle together and the FitRight Physio takes them through a 20 minute sequence of baby massage and developmental play, with the aims of improving digestion, circulation and motor learning, as well as connection and bonding.
Traditional massage strokes are interspersed with play ideas to help babies find their feet, identify the midline and where their body parts are in space, and set the scene for learning to roll, sit and crawl.
This is best suited to 2-7-month-old babies.
If your baby is not awake at the time of baby massage, or needs to be held or fed at this time, mothers are still encouraged to come and join the circle and take part in the discussion and learning.
If you have private health insurance, it is highly likely that you will receive a rebate for FitRight HQ consultations and exercise classes as all of our classes are delivered by qualified physiotherapists. The amount that you get back will depend on your level of cover, and how much you have already used, so you should check your individual circumstances with your health insurance provider.
Please contact your health fund and quote code 561 to see how much of your class will be covered.
Please note that the code 595 (Antenatal exercise) can also be used for Bump&Me Studio and Aqua classes and code 596 (Postnatal exercise) can also be used for Baby&Me classes. If you would like your receipt changed to these codes please contact us.
Please also note that receipts for private health rebates are sent at the end of each eight week course. We cannot provide a claimable receipt for classes that have not been attended. Casual class receipts will be sent each week.
Please note that online classes are not available for private health fund rebates.
Group Fitness Classes
We expect that most of you will miss at least one class in the 8 week course - sickness, holidays, and life in general get in the way! We offer participants the option to reschedule 1 class per course to another day/time if there are spaces available.
Make up classes must be within the same 8 week course. To organise a make up class please email hq@fitright.physio or call 0415 934 885 with the date of the class that you would like to reschedule. We are unable to offer more than 1 makeup class per person each course. We also send out a weekly email to you (expect it in your inbox each Monday!) with some online alternatives for workouts if you miss a week.
Online Classes
Online classes are recorded and will be emailed to you soon after your class time so you can access this throughout the week.
Yes we do!
If you sign up to more than one class in the same course we will give you $50 off your second course!
This $50 discount if valid for 7 or 8 week enrolments. If you decide to enrol in a second class with 6 weeks remaining - we will give you a $25 discount!
Please contact hq@fitright.physio to organise your second class at the discounted rate.
Please bring a a water bottle to classes – it’s important to keep hydrated!
For classes involving baby massage please bring a towel and some baby massage oil.
For aqua classes, bring bathers and a towel for yourself.
If you are bringing your baby to a class (and we are happy for you to do so!) please bring them in a pram to make it easy for the volunteers to assist in caring for them.
Comfortable clothing such as leggings and a t-shirt are ideal. Most of the time we exercise in bare feet or socks, but if you have knee or foot issues that are helped with supportive footwear, please bring these along for the standing portions of the classes.
For aqua classes, wear your bathers (or a sports crop and shorts) and bring a spare change of clothes.
Community volunteers are usually present at Baby&Me and Toddler&Me classes. The volunteers can assist in caring for your babies/children in very close proximity to where you are exercising. You will be able to hear and see whether the volunteers need assistance with your little one.
Babies do not need to come to class, if you'd rather leave them with a friend or family member you can. And if you prefer to keep your baby close by to you on a mat or in their pram that is also completely fine.
The volunteers are lovely members of the community who have offered their time to make it easier for you to return to exercise after having a baby. All volunteers require a Working With Children Check and be up to date with their COVID-19 and Whooping Cough Vaccines before commencing volunteer work with FitRight. The volunteers will be in the same area as you while you exercise so that you can easily see and hear if you need to stop the class to attend to your child.
We do not run FitRight classes on public holidays. If your class falls on a public holiday the cost of your classes will be reduced accordingly.
Online classes continue to be run on Public Holidays.
