Course 6 starts Monday 19th October!

No need to wait for a new term to start - casual classes and mid-course enrolments are open now. Book your initial assessment below and your physio will point you to the right class.

All classes require an initial assessment

All FitRight exercise classes require an initial assessment with a physiotherapist first. Your physio will find out your history, goals, and any current issues - so that from your very first class, sessions are adjusted to your body. They'll also help you decide which class is the right fit. The assessment is a one-on-one appointment and is claimable on private health insurance.

If you have had an initial assessment or an appointment with a women's health physio elsewhere and they are able to provide a summary to us, this will suffice as your initial assessment. Please ask your physiotherapist to complete this form.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which class is right for me?

That's exactly what your initial assessment is for. Your physiotherapist will consider your health history, exercise experience, goals and any concerns and recommend the class that is most appropriate for you.

You can also explore our exercise classes by life stage to get a better idea of which class may suit you:

If you're still unsure, our team is happy to help you find the right fit.

What's the difference between Clinical Exercise and a Group Class?

Both Clinical Exercise and our group exercise classes are led by physiotherapists and focus on helping you move well, build strength and feel confident exercising. The main difference is the level of individualisation and supervision.

Clinical Exercise is a more personalised approach. Your physiotherapist develops an exercise program specifically for you based on your assessment, symptoms, goals and individual needs. Sessions are kept small, with a maximum of three people, so your physiotherapist can provide more individual attention, closely monitor your technique and progress your exercises as you improve.

Clinical Exercise may be the better option if you have pelvic floor concerns, persistent pain, an injury, a specific health condition, significant weakness, or you're returning to exercise after surgery or childbirth and need a more tailored program.

Group exercise classes provide a fun, supportive and social environment where you exercise alongside other women at a similar stage of life or with similar goals. Classes follow a structured program, but your physiotherapist can still modify exercises to suit your individual needs and ability.

Group classes are a great option if you're looking to build strength, improve fitness, maintain your health, return to regular exercise or exercise alongside other women.

Not sure which option is right for you? Your initial assessment gives us the opportunity to understand your needs and recommend the most appropriate option.

Do I need to be fit or have previous exercise experience?

Not at all. Our exercise classes are designed for women across a range of fitness levels and exercise experience. Whether you're new to exercise, returning after a break, or already regularly active, we'll help you find a class that's appropriate for you.

You don't need to be fit or strong before you start. Your physiotherapist will guide you through the exercises and can modify the weight, resistance, repetitions or difficulty to suit your current ability. As you become stronger and more confident, your exercises can be progressed to continue challenging you.

Your initial assessment allows us to understand your exercise history, goals and any health concerns and recommend the class that's right for you.

What if I have pelvic floor problems or an injury? Can I still join a group class?

Yes. Having pelvic floor symptoms, an injury or another physical concern doesn't necessarily mean you need to avoid exercise or group classes.

Our classes are led by physiotherapists who understand women's health and can modify exercises to suit your individual needs. Your physiotherapist can adjust the exercise, resistance, range of movement or intensity to help you exercise safely and confidently while working towards your goals.

During your initial assessment, we'll discuss your symptoms, injury or health concerns and determine whether a group class is appropriate for you. We may recommend specific modifications or exercises for you to use during the class.

For some women, particularly those with more complex or significant symptoms, an acute injury or who require closer individual supervision, Clinical Exercise may be a better starting point. This provides a more personalised exercise program in a smaller setting, with exercises specifically tailored to your needs.

The goal isn't to stop you exercising - it's to find the right type and level of exercise for you and help you progress from there.

What do I need to bring or wear to classes?

Please bring a water bottle to classes – keeping hydrated is important!

Wearing comfortable clothing such as leggings/shorts and a t-shirt are ideal to wear. You can wear bare feet, socks or exercise shoes.

Studio Classes

  • Your own exercise mat (if you have one) or a towel to put down over a supplied mat
  • For Baby&Me and Toddler&Me classes please  bring your baby them in a pram so that the volunteers can easily assist in caring for your child. Please also bring toys for your toddler to play with

Circuit Classes

  • A small towel to place on exercise equipment
  • Socks to wear on equipment - grip socks are preferred and are available for purchase
Why do I need to have an initial assessment?

Your initial assessment helps us make sure you’re starting with the right type and level of exercise for your body, goals and current stage of life. It gives your physiotherapist the opportunity to understand your health and exercise history, discuss any concerns or symptoms you may have, and identify anything that may need to be considered when exercising.

Your physiotherapist will then recommend the most appropriate class for you and provide guidance on how exercises can be modified to suit your individual needs. This is particularly important if you are pregnant, recently had a baby, are returning to exercise after a break, have pelvic floor concerns, pain or an injury, or are experiencing changes through perimenopause or menopause.

It also means you can start your classes feeling confident that the exercises are appropriate for you and that you know how to get the most out of them.

Your assessment is about getting to know you and making sure your exercise program is right for you.

Are classes covered by private health insurance?

Most private health funds cover physiotherapist led exercise classes if you have Physiotherapy extras cover. The rebate amount and annual limit depend on your individual policy.

Find out more information including which health fund codes are used here.

Please note that health fund receipts will be sent to class participants at the end of the 8 week course. Classes that have not been attended cannot be claimed.

Do I need a referral to claim private health insurance?

No referral is required - you can book directly into our classes. You will receive your private health fund receipt at the end of each course.

Can I join part-way through an 8-week course?

Yes, where places are available. We also offer casual classes, so you don't necessarily have to wait for the next course to begin.

What happens if I miss a class?

We expect that most women miss at least one class in the 8 week course - sickness, holidays, and life in general get in the way!

We offer participants the option to reschedule 1 class per course to another day/time if there are spaces available. You can use your make up class for any class type - Studio, Circuit, Restore, however this must be completed within the 8 week course.

We will try our best to accommodate all requests, depending on availability.

Can I try a class before committing to an 8-week course?

Yes, casual classes are available where places allow. Your initial assessment is still required before attending.
